Bears
Charlie McArthur and Craig Ramsey began recording as Bears in the summer of 2005. Their first album was self-released in April 2006, and the band soon received praise from various publications. The pair continued to write music as winter began in Ohio, and the songs took on a slightly darker tone. The aptly-titled "Shortest Day of the Year" EP was released at the end of winter, and, once again, great reviews rolled in. 2007 saw interesting things happening for Bears' music, as they received great press from SPIN Magazine, and the song "How To Live" was featured on a compilation CD from Urban Outfitters Stores & Filter Magazine, along with Radiohead, Tegan & Sara, Sea Wolf, The Weakerthans and a bunch more. The guys also took their show on the road, where they expand to a six-piece on stage.
For 2008, the band is planning several releases, including a two-song 7" featuring the live favorite "Who Knows", and a re-release the Shortest Day of the Year EP on 10" vinyl. Craig and Charlie are also writing and recording the follow-up to Bears and plan to release it in the Fall of 2008. Alternative Press Magazine named them one of "100 Bands to Watch in 2008," so keep an eye on these guys to see where the year takes them. It's sure to be somewhere fun and exciting. |

The bird and the vine
The bird and the vine sound like everything and nothing. Their distinct combination of indie, pop, folk, and jazz, coupled with the fact that half of the band are artists and the other half orchestra musicians, leads their sound in an ever-malleable direction and leaves their sonic future wide open. The music is complemented with the unique visual imagery of the lyrics, taking the listener out of this hectic modernity to a world of peace, where nothing matters but being.

Cavaliers
"It's been about three years since Stephen Wolfe disbanded Getaway Driver and set to work re-imagining his songwriting voice. Whereas Wolfe's former band offered emo-tinged power pop, his new band Cavaliers is more of a singer/songwriter Americana project. Intact are Wolfe's talents for penning buoyant melodies, self-effacing lyrics and full-bodied arrangements." -Richard Gintowt, lawrence.com

The Dead Science
It's a relatively well documented fact that The Dead Science - a proper "rock trio" from Seattle, WA - are essentially the most adjective-defying musical entity currently working within the rock/pop idom. Jazz-educated students of the macabre, Jherek Bischoff, Sam Mickens, and Nick Tamburro have suffered virtually every conceivable journalistic side-step in their half-dozen years - collecting a mountain of gloriously abstract press clippings rife with (non)descriptors like "ethereal", "damaged", "glimmering", and, most damning, "Jazzy". Which is to say that most people don't seem to know what to make of the band - whose brilliance is as undeniable as it is undescribable. Here's a hint: "Gothy".

Via Audio
The adage of too many cooks spoiling the broth can be universally applied on a number of levels, particularly in artistic relationships, where, for example, too many musicians’ egos clash during the writing and recording of an album. But in the case of New York-based indie rock outfit Via Audio, having three-fourths of the band penning material for its debut album, Say Somethingsaysomethingsaysomething, has only made a great collection of tracks even greater.

Wisdom Tooth
Wisdom Tooth is Meagan Day. She used to want to be an architectural restoration artist when she was younger, and she thinks this project is a lot like that: channeling a collective history, sharing a creation with ghosts.
